Before the examination, we may ask you to please change into a gown. We will ask you to lie down on the examination table and expose the area that needs to be scanned. Our doctor will apply a lubricating jelly to the area so that the equipment can easily glide along your skin without any friction. An ultrasound transducer sends a high-frequency sound wave into the area. The waves echo off of the internal structures and are reflected on the monitor - essentially mapping the internal structures for us. These images are highly detailed and allow us to detect any potential or developing issues.
Preparing for an Ultrasound
The practitioners at EasyMed are highly experienced and will discuss all of the preparatory steps you need to take before your scan. Your EasyMed practitioner may ask you to fast for 8 - 12 hours before your scan as an empty stomach can help us produce clearer images. If we're scanning specific internal organs, you may need to eat a fat-free meal the evening before your scan and then fast until your procedure. You will still be able to drink water and take any necessary medications. Be sure to let your doctor know which medications you’re currently taking, including any herbal supplements you’re taking.
